I was the mother
You did not know my son
Or his little girl
You took out with your gun
Did not even realize
Our family was not done
You also took from this world
My unborn little one
He was someone's husband
Who had come home from the war
Now his life is taken
Along with many more
What reason could you have
To blatantly take the lives
Of sons and daughters, sisters and brothers
Grandparents, husbands and wives
(with heartfelt prayers to all of those effected by these recent shootings, may God be with you all and give you strength and God bless our nation)
A country once divided
Is now a country torn apart.
Banning things like flags
Will never change what's in the heart;
Things will come and go
But a heart and mind is set,
If you had nothing there to see
Your heart is still put to the test.
You can wave your flag up high
No matter what color it may be,
But that will never change
What is done, is history.
Laws can redefine
And allow things once thought wrong;
Memories will remain
As will TV shows and songs.
If you wiped everything from this world
That in some would find offensive,
There would be nothing left to buy
And what there was would be expensive.
T-shirts sold all day
With logos, artists, and such stuff
Memorabilia comes and goes
When is enough just enough?
Take away the flags
And marriage redefine
Turn off the TV shows
That have aired over time.
But if you truly want
To make a change in this world,
Start with education
For every boy and every girl.
Teach them to respect
Their differences and get along,
We all are not alike
We all sing a different song.
If our life were a melody
Not one would be the same,
But we'd sing in harmony
Because we're playing the same game.
The game of life it's called
And it does come with a set of rules,
However, the way we play it out
Is up to us to choose.
The one rule to follow
The Golden Rule for sure,
Then what peace we would find
We would have hope and so much more.
So, fly your flag up high-
The red, the white, the blue,
But realize it's not the flag
But in your heart what you hold true.
Our country is divided
Once again, it's torn apart,
And the only way to fix it
Is to fix what's in our heart
I was born a girl
A girl I'll always be
When I leave this world
I will still be the same me...
Does not matter
What I claim or say
My gender was determined
On my birth day.
Are we hating others
To not accept their choice
Why is it that they
Are the only ones with voice?
Why is it the voice of the few
Now the changes have begun
Why is it that changes we do
does not make it fair to everyone.
Rights are given to all of us
From the time we come to be
Now so many groups making new rules
And never the majority
Majority used to be the way
That things were put into place
Now it is how loud you can scream
Or if you know how to run the race
I am scared to see what life will be
a generation or two from now
There will be no sign of what has been
It's all being erased somehow
So when you talk to your children
Be sure to give them the truth
Does not matter who you are
You are responsible for all you do
We are born into the world
Color and sex are already done
Black or white, boy or girl
Decided when our life begun.
We have watched the DNC and the RNC... now who are you voting for? I am voting for human life (for the unborn and the elderly); I am voting for my right to worship; I am voting for my right to bear arms (even if I do not chose to carry a gun myself); I am voting for the right to protest (not loot, burn, tear down and destroy and vandalize) when I want to see change; I am voting for my right to free speech (without fear of being hurt because I wear a certain team jersey or political jersey); free speech without being censored on FB; I am voting for my right to have my own personal opinion without being attacked for it; I am voting for the right to salute our flag, to say our pledge and to respect our country... I am voting in hopes to leave a better America; a safe America and a free America for my grandchildren; I am voting for the right to look back at history and know what was right, what was wrong and how to fix it peacefully.... I am voting for America, for a country that I have been proud to always say is my home and I want to see that carried on for generations to come. I am voting for our constitution to be protected so that all of those who died fighting for these rights did not die in vane... I am voting for the right to life, peace and the pursuit of happiness for all ..... now I ask you ... what are you voting for? It is not the person, it is the values.
