EASTER

Road To Emmaus

Future Home of Another Great Poem

Future Home of Another Great Poem

Jesus was gone, they had no doubt

What if’s and why’s came about

They walked along heads in dismay

They’d seen Christ die on this day

Their Christ had failed them so they thought

They did not recognize him when he walked

Defeat they felt, Victory was denied

They did not see Him although He tried

He walked up to them with no disguise

Had they been looking with their heart, not eyes

They brought Him to their homes to eat

It was in the breaking of bread they met defeat

That they had been the host and He the guest

Was reversed now as Jesus shared with them the rest

Their eyes now could see what their hearts had not

To return to Jerusalem now, a seven mile walk

They’d left before seeking a home to find

Now they’d found a home of a different kind

They now knew Jesus at Calvary was a victory indeed

It was for us to live eternal life with Him; He did bleed

He Is Risen

Peace of a Lily

Future Home of Another Great Poem

As you rise today

Remember He is Risen

Stop a moment and pray

For the blessings you're given

Tell your children

It's not about the bunny

But a gift they're given

Which does not cost money

The gift of life

Christ died for our sins

His sacrifice

Is where true life begins

As you rise today

Fall down on your knees

He is Risen Today

He is Risen indeed.

Peace of a Lily

Peace of a Lily

Peace of a Lily

Peace of a Lily
Innocence of a lamb
Strength of many
Is the great I Am!

HE is Risen
Our Christ lives today
HE is Risen
For our sins he paid
HE is Risen
Let the people say
HE is Risen
Our Savior lives today!

Alleluia! Let the world rejoice!
Alleluia! Let's all make some noise!
Alleluia! Hosanna to the King!
Alleluia! Let the whole world sing!

New Life

Peace of a Lily

Peace of a Lily

Spring finds new life
From the risen Christ
To the birds of song
We cannot go wrong...

Morning will break
And with it take
You to a new life
With the now risen Christ.

Alleluia, sing praises to the King
Alleluia, Let all the heavens sing

Christ is Risen, we will give Him praise,
Christ is Risen, sing glory to His name.

Valentine's Day

The Valentine Box

Future Home of Another Great Poem

Future Home of Another Great Poem

When I think of my Valentine
It is my husband, best friend of mine
To give him chocolate seems so mundane
Flowers wilt, which drives me insane

So in this box with a cover
I cannot fit what I'd like to give my lover
So many things I could fill it with if I try
The things I'd give him money cannot buy

I'd like to give him love that lasts forever
Patience to get through the stormy weather
My heart to which he already holds the key
Kisses that would fill the Coral Sea

Give him strength to deal with daily strife
Thank him again for making me his wife
Hugs that will last a lifetime and more
You see, none of these things you will find in a store.

written for contest (contest was to write about what you would put inside this box for your Valentine)

Thanksgiving

The Day After

Miles Apart

Miles Apart

Turkey's been stuffed (and eaten);
leftovers for the week,
now we head toward Christmas,
hiding gifts for a child to peek;
through all the hustle and bustle;
shopping and singing songs of joy ~
remember the real reason for Christmas
is the birth of That baby boy!
Our world is in a turmoil,
everyone finds fault all around;
this season of joy and gladness
is to spread Christ throughout your town.
Take the time to cherish
a moment with a long time friend;
and walk up to a stranger
and lend him a helping hand.

Miles Apart

Miles Apart

Miles Apart

What makes a house a home
Is not feeling all alone
To hear more than just a voice
To hear children making noise
Singing songs and having fun
From sun up till day is done
Home is where your heart
And your family never part.

When miles keep you away
On this Thanksgiving day
I pray your day is blessed
Your turkey is well dressed
Cranberry and potato pie
And all the trimmings piled up high
As you sit down and say a prayer
Know that in my heart I am there

My thoughts are there with you
Wishing I was with you too
For a table should be filled with guests
With Family and friends we're truly blessed
To thank God for blessings on this day
Wish everyone was not so far away...

Hope next year our family

Around the same table we can be
After we all watch the Macy's day parade
And cheer on the football game
Say our good nights with a hug and kiss
These are the simple things I miss

Thanksgiving to me is more than a day
It is about family, though so far away

They are missed but in my heart
It is though we are not apart
For on this day as I say my prayers
I know that you all know how much I care..

Be Thankful

Miles Apart

Day After Thanksgiving

Young couple with no where to go,
Family traveling without any snow...
To gather together for Thanksgiving day,
Be thankful for everyone coming your way.

You may be alone, with no family around
May be that peace is yet to be found
Be thankful still for the gifts that you have
In all around you, find a way to be glad.

God's blessings come in many ways
With turkey and stuffing today we say grace
This bounty before us is just one more way
That we show we are thankful on Thanksgiving Day.

Set an extra place, open your door to a stranger
Remember the Christ child born in a manger
Thank God for the gifts of family and friends
At the end of the day, do not let this be the end...

You may go to a soup kitchen, serve a cup or two
Be thankful in all that you say and you do
Not everyone will be sitting together today
Thank God for your blessings, bow your head to pray.

Day After Thanksgiving

Future Home of Another Great Poem

Day After Thanksgiving

We cooked, we ate, we said grace
Invited family and friends into our space
We laughed, we shared, we even cried
Those onions hurt when they hit your eye.
So many years, but on this one big day
We remember our blessings, to God we pray

Why is it the day after, we all seem to forget
All the love & laughter and folk that we met
We head to the stores on this Black Friday day
To get pushed and shoved and throw money away
Sit at home, those sales are online too
Sit in the comfort of your living room
Then take the time to count your blessings again
Take out the leftovers and share with a friend
Maybe a game you have stored for a while
Get loved ones together, share pie and a smile

If you still need to find something to do
Go to the nursing home and sit for a few
Those that did not see their family or friends
Will welcome a chance to share stories again
So, on this day after, why go crazy and shop
Pause for a moment, better yet... stop!
Remember to be thankful for not only today
But for all the blessings that have come your way
Then maybe write cards to your family and friends
Include a note about family and places you've been

It is the day after, but it is also the day of
Sharing with family and friends that you love
The turkey and pies may now be all gone
But the thanks should last the entire year long
Don't waste a moment to think back on the year
Fill it with laughter and friends and good cheer
For Thanksgiving is a day, memories are forever
The day after should be just as important to remember
It is the day that begins the next beautiful season
Give thanks to our Lord, for He is the reason
Thanksgiving and Christmas may be just a day
The love, peace and blessings, with you should stay.

Thanksgiving Dinner

Future Home of Another Great Poem

Future Home of Another Great Poem

5 am and the alarm rings

Scent of coffee as I go down the stairs

There is a chill in the air

Soon to be replaced by the warm

Aroma of pumpkin muffins

Candles burning

Children laughing

Family gathering.

7 am and the turkey is stuffed

Scent of apple and pumpkin pies

There is a warmth in the house

Soon to be increased by the joyous

Sounds of the Macy Day Parade

Music playing

Children laughing

Family gathering.

3 pm and dinner is served

Scents of Rosemary, Sage & Thyme

There are many thanks to share

Soon to be given around the table

Thankful for the family gathered

Turkey and stuffing

Creamed onions

All the trimmings

7 pm and dishes are done

Scent of pine fills the air

There is laughter everywhere

Soon to be trimming the tree

After the best meal of the year

Carols playing

Children laughing

Family gathering.

Mother's Day

Mother's Day Blessing

Mother's Day is a day to say thank you and let the moms in our lives know how much we love and appreciate them. It is also a time for mom's to remember what a great joy it is to be a mom. I have 3 sons and a daughter who God blessed me with; allowing me to have 4 great  reasons to celebrate this day. From the first moment I held each of you in my arms, I knew that this was that kind of unconditional love that would last a lifetime. I would not trade a moment, the morning feedings, the eggs on forehead, stitches, broken bones, the weird style of clothes and even the times we just totally disagreed on things - because the wonderful memories, the laughter, trips to Riverside, the beach, Sunday car rides to absolutely nowhere, picnics and fishing, late night movies, just being a family and having fun... far outweigh any of the rest. To be a mom was a child hood dream of mine, and not only was that dreamed fulfilled, but I raised 4 children who are intelligent, each in their own way, and I am proud of many of the accomplishments they each have achieved. Let me say today that I love each of you and it is days like today that remind me how very blessed I am to be a mom, and also a Mimi. Love you all.

Mother's Day

Remembering Mom

Happy Mother's Day to all you mom's out there. I remember my mom with much love. She was the greatest lady I've ever known. Upon her death at such a young age, I was fortunate to have a great foster mom come into my life.  No matter what your mom may have done in her life, you only have one mom, let her know you love her, there may come a day when you don't have that opportunity and you'll wish you had, believe me. May God bless all the Moms out there today and always. Happy Mother's Day to those of you who also play the role of "mom" for those children who would otherwise not know the meaning of having a "mom" to teach them, to guide them and to love them, they are blessed to have you.

Memorial day

Memorial Day

Memorial Day -- what does it mean to you? To me it is a time to remember those who have died for our freedom. I remember that my sister, Carmen 's dad died in Vietnam for our country; my Uncle Slim served in WWII, and although I've never carried a gun to war, I thank God for this, and I pray every day for peace to overcome the earth, for their to be no more bloodshed, that no more fathers, brothers, sons, daughters, wives or mothers should loose their lives in combat. Memorial Day to me is a day of memory, a day of peace and a day of gratitude.
Wishing everyone a blessed and safe Memorial Day.

Anniversary Blessings

God bless you as you celebrate
Your special wedding day
May He continue to be
Your light that guides your way
Keep Him as your Captain
You cannot drift off course
Hold each other dear
With God as your loving force.

Look back on yesterday
But only to take a glimpse
Of that day of I do's
That brought you marital bliss
Hold tight onto your dreams
As you face the coming year
God will bless you again and again
If you just keep Him near.

May God bless you and keep you both
As you celebrate your day
With God as your captain
You will never loose your way
God has blessed you with many years
Here is wishing you many more
Keep Him close and hold on tight
To your love forever more.

Wishing a happy anniversary to all my family and friends celebrating their wonderful years together

Happy New Year

A Reflection

When the rain falls, get out and dance; when the night falls, look toward the stars; when the wind blows, listen to the trees, look around you... God has given us a world filled with so much beauty, so many opportunities, and He has given each of us a gift; do not waste those gifts... sing like you've never sang before; dance until you can no longer stand, whatever is your calling, give it your all, do it from your heart... don't make resolutions because it is a New Year; make life changes because you and your family deserve your best; and you deserve to be happy. Happy New Year to everyone, may God bless you and keep you through this year and always. Let's make a change, all of us, for Peace.
