they were separated when they were born
two of a kind with their bracelets on
Mom didn’t hold them very long
I’m doing what I have to do
Hope one day you will see that too
Last words she spoke were “I love you”
Later that day, the angels came
She didn’t even give them a name
Two little boys who looked the same
The doctor knew what he had to do
Made a phone call or two
Last words he said were “thank you”
Later that day, the new parents came
Gave a little boy his first name
Not knowing there were two of the same
They did not know what to do
When they sent him off to school
Last words to him were “we love you”
Later that day their little boy came
Home with a letter of another name
Teacher not knowing who to blame
Seems there were two of them at school
The other boy had been adopted too
Neither of them knew what to do
They were separated when they were born
Two little boys with their bracelets on
Found a new love that will grow strong
A brother they both would see
Now each in their own family
Life turned out as it should be.
